The rules are multiplying — and they do not align. The ASA has its standards. The CAP Code has its requirements. Meta, Google, TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram each apply their own policies. Content that appears acceptable in one context may be restricted in another. Many clinics only discover this once something is flagged, rejected, or removed.

What worked before no longer works now. For years, careful claims handling was often enough. AI changed that. Content volume increased, enforcement became more automated, and platform policies began shifting faster than most teams can realistically track. The margin for error is now much smaller.

The UK enforcement landscape has also changed. In April 2025, key provisions of the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act came into force, giving the Competition and Markets Authority the power to enforce consumer protection law directly.
